Neil Schulman has led the North Clackamas Watersheds Council since 2018. He leads the efforts to remove Kellogg Dam and restore a free-flowing Kellogg Creek, as well as the Council’s strategy, stakeholder relations, fundraising, and organizational development.  Mr. Schulman has three decades of expertise in conservation leadership, collaborate watershed initiatives, and community engagement on natural resources with a focus on work in urban and suburban areas, multi-stakeholder projects, and natural resources leadership development.

Amy van Riessen

Watershed Restoration Manger

Amy van Riessen manages the Council’s watershed restoration efforts, from instream large wood projects to scientific studies that track changes in how our watersheds are functioning over time, and finding new ways to create healthy watersheds for the fish, wildlife, and people of the region. Her habitat restoration background includes both urban and rural settings, with previous experience leading restoration initiatives for both the Umatilla Tribe, the City of Sacramento, and Canada’s Department of Fisheries & Oceans. 

Kira Smith

Outreach & Stakeholder Engagement Coordinator

Kira is the Council’s Outreach and Stakeholder Engagement Coordinator. She is excited to build community and connect with watershed area residents. Prior to joining the Council, Kira worked for five years as a community outreach coordinator with the City of Portland. She has worked with diverse stakeholder groups to find common ground on climate policy, urban municipal water boards development, and rural watershed planning. 

Peyton Priestman

Community Science Coordinator

Peyton Priestman the Council’s Community Science Coordinator. She also coordinates the Council’s community engagement for the Kellogg Creek Restoration and Community Enhancement Project. Peyton worked as an in-home caregiver serving adults and children with disabilities while earning her bachelor’s degree in environmental science from Portland State University. She is passionate about creating accessible and inclusive outdoor spaces and overcoming barriers to community engagement with nature.
