January 3rd, 9:00 am – Noon: Kellogg Creek Stewardship Day

Come kick off the new year helping us maintain trails and remove invasive species along Kellogg Creek! We will be working in the Milwaukie Presbyterian Church Outdoor Sanctuary on January 3rd, from 9 am – noon. The Outdoor Sanctuary is a hidden gem natural area just a 5 minute walk from Downtown Milwaukie, and right along the soon-to-be restored Kellogg Impoundment. Join us for a morning of getting our hands dirty, with an opportunity to learn more about the Kellogg Creek Restoration and Community Enhancement Project while we work! Tools, light refreshments and snacks provided.

January 10th, 10:00 am – 2:00 PM: Christmas Tree Take-Back

Save your Christmas Tree for Salmon! Donate your tree to the North Clackamas Watersheds Council on January 10th, 2026 to improve salmon habitat in our watersheds. You can drop off your tree at the North Clackamas Park Parking Area A from 10am-2pm with a donation of $5 (plus anything else you want to contribute to our work!). Donated trees will be installed later in the month in the back-channel at Elk Rock Island, enhancing important habitat complexity at the site that benefits our native fish.

January 16th, 12:00 – 1:00 PM: Kellogg Project Webinar

Join the North Clackamas Watersheds Council on Friday, January 16th from 12:00 – 1:00 p.m. for a winter webinar update on the Kellogg Creek Restoration and Community Enhancement Project! Our winter webinars are a way for us to connect with the community during the cold winter months – when site tours of the Kellogg Project area are on pause. Join us for our first webinar of the season to learn more about this exciting restoration project, ecosystem and community benefits, related scientific monitoring and recent updates! Zoom links will be sent out prior to the event to those who register.

January 24th, 1:00 pm – 3:00 PM: Christmas Tree Tie-Down

Join us and our partners at North Clackamas Parks and Recreation District for a fun afternoon installing Christmas Trees in the back channel at Elk Rock Island! Every year, we take donated Christmas Trees and tie them down in the Willamette river to improve fish habitat there. These trees provide shelter for young fish and attract bugs for them to eat. Volunteers will also be helping to plant native plants and have an opportunity to learn more about upcoming restoration projects happening at Spring Park and Elk Rock Island.

Kellogg Creek Student Macroinvertebrate Monitoring Program

Work with students grades 6-12th collecting and identifying macroinvertebrates from a variety of sites along Kellogg Creek! This is a great opportunity for people with an interest in community science, and some weekday availability! Learn more about volunteering with the Kellogg Creek Student Macroinvertebrate Monitoring Program here.

Kellogg Creek BioBlitz

Volunteer behind the scenes with the Kellogg Creek BioBlitz! This event is held annually in May, and we are always looking for volunteers to help out with set up, lunch preparations and clean up!
