March 28th, 10:00 – 12:00 PM: Watershed Ambassador Training

Attend our in-person Watershed Ambassador Training on Saturday, March 28th to join our crew of amazing Watershed Ambassadors! Watershed Ambassadors represent the North Clackamas Watersheds Council at a variety of fun community events during the spring and summer, and provide support at Council events such as the Kellogg Creek BioBlitz and our restoration workshops.
This training will include an informational session for volunteers to get up to date on the latest from the North Clackamas Watersheds Council including updates on our current restoration work, community science programs, and advocacy. We will go over the logistics of being a Watersheds Ambassador, like how to sign up for events, picking up tabling materials, and coordinating with other volunteers! The training will be held at our offices in the Milwaukie Presbyterian Church (2416 SE Lake Rd, Milwaukie, OR, 97222) from 10 am – Noon.
April 4th, 9:00 am – Noon: Kellogg Creek Stewardship Day

Come volunteer helping to maintain trails and remove invasive species along Kellogg Creek! We will be working in the Milwaukie Presbyterian Church Outdoor Sanctuary on April 4th (and the first Saturday of every month), from 9 am – noon. The Outdoor Sanctuary is a hidden gem natural area just a 5 minute walk from Downtown Milwaukie, and right along the soon-to-be restored Kellogg Impoundment. Join us for a morning of getting our hands dirty, with an opportunity to learn more about the Kellogg Creek Restoration and Community Enhancement Project while we work! Tools, light refreshments and snacks provided.
April 11th, 9:30 – 12:00 PM: Macroinvertebrate Survey Training
Volunteer supporting the Kellogg Creek Student Macroinvertebrate Monitoring Program this spring! Help students 6th-12th grade collect and identify creek critters, as part of our long-term water quality monitoring program for the Kellogg Creek Restoration and Community Enhancement Project. Our volunteers have played a critical role in helping to inspire and provide hands-on, outdoor, scientific learning opportunities for local students. No previous experience necessary. Training will be held on April 11th from 9:30 am – 12pm. Learn more about this program and sign up to volunteer on the Kellogg Creek Student Macroinvertebrate Monitoring Program page.
April 19th, 10:00 am – Noon: 3 Creeks BioBlitz

Join us on Sunday, April 19th from 10 am to Noon for a 3 Creeks Protected Area BioBlitz! Volunteers will be gathering data on birds, plants, fungi, amphibians, and whatever else we can find. This is a special opportunity to safely explore this beautiful natural area, which is typically closed to the public. There will be opportunities to learn more about the restoration work in progress at this site, and hopefully see some wildflowers, and observe signs of urban wildlife!
No previous experience necessary! We will use the iNaturalist app to record observations and identification will be verified by iNaturalist.
Accessibility: This event is family friendly and open to everyone! However there are some accessibility considerations at this site to take into account prior to registering. We will be using unmaintained “social trails” in the 3 Creeks Protected Area, which are unpaved, and sometimes include steep or uneven terrain. Depending on recent weather, some sections of the trails may be muddy. If you have specific questions about accessibility or potential accommodations, let us know! You can email Peyton at peyton@ncwatersheds.org.
April 26th, 10:00 – 12:00 PM: Volunteer Macroinvertebrate Survey
Help us collect data on macroinvertebrates living in Kellogg Creek on Sunday, April 26th from 10:00 – Noon at the Kellogg Creek confluence with the Willamette River! Community volunteer surveys help to support data gathered with the Kellogg Creek Student Macroinvertebrate Monitoring Program. No previous experience is necessary – we will provide in-person training at the survey!
Volunteers should be comfortable navigating on steep trails for a short period of time, safely getting in and out of the creek, and conducting surveys outside, rain or shine! Survey supplies and waders provided.
May 2nd, 9:00 am – Noon: Kellogg Creek Stewardship Day

Come volunteer helping to maintain trails and remove invasive species along Kellogg Creek! We will be working in the Milwaukie Presbyterian Church Outdoor Sanctuary on May 2nd, from 9 am – noon. This will be our last Stewardship Saturday of the season!
May 16th, 9:30 – 12:30 PM: Kellogg Creek BioBlitz

Join us for the third annual Kellogg Creek BioBlitz on May 16th, 2026 from 9:30 am – 12:30 pm! Help us to document the plants, birds, insects, and other wildlife that are currently present in and around the soon-to-be restored Kellogg Creek. We will meet at 9:30 in the back parking lot of the Milwaukie Presbyterian Church. Surveys take place from 10 am – Noon, with a celebration and free lunch provided by the Council afterwards!
No previous experience necessary! Volunteers will join a group with a specific focus (like birds, plants or insects) and document observations using the iNaturalist app. Each group will be led by a local expert who can help with identification and share their vast knowledge and passion on the subject!
Accessibility: This event is family friendly and open to everyone! Volunteers can choose from multiple survey locations, including Kronberg Park, the Milwaukie Presbyterian Church Sanctuary and along the Trolley Trail. Accessibility for these sites is described in detail on the BioBlitz registration page. If you have specific questions about accessibility, or require accommodations to participate, let us know! You can email Peyton at peyton@ncwatersheds.org.
